10 Months OLD!

I can't even believe that in 5 days my little baby will no longer be 10 months old, but will be 11 months, which is only 1 month away from being a whole year OLD!!

Since I messed up and didn't post for months at a time and did not write down all of Emmy's little perks for every month, I am now scared I will do it again so I make notes on my phone every time she does something cute. I think everything she does is cute, so the list is pretty long for this month!

1. When she likes a song she claps. And dances. And bounces. And shakes her head. And sometimes puts her hands up in the air, which is my FAVE. Unfortunately she is currently obsessed with a strange song that my dad has on his phone. It sounds like it is from another country and I really dislike it. Well, it's now on my phone because she likes it so much. Here is a video of her dancing in her high chair to this weird song, even though she was very very sick:

2. She loves to play patty cakes and if you start to sing it she will start to clap. Sometimes I do this in the car if she is fussing and it works like a charm!

3. Whenever someone else is laughing, she laughs. I use to always think it was so funny when other kids did this. I didn't realize it was something most kids do! I love it. It is like they know exactly what is going on.

4. When she waves bye bye, or if you are lucky enough to see her do it because it is like she is too embarrassed to do it, she will wave at herself.

5. Since she now has two top teeth and two bottom teeth, she grits them together. It grosses me out. Hopefully she grows out of that!

6. Poor Emmy Lou got sick this month. She got her second (and last) flu shot and not an hour later she had a really high fever. I called the doctor and they said it is normal to have up to a 102 degree fever and that it could last about 2 days. On the 3rd day of running on very little sleep and feeling like I just couldn't keep the fever down, I took her in. After being there for an hour and a half, and what seemed like a million tests later, we found out that she did not have an ear infection, did not have the flu (so it wasn't what I thought it was caused from), but she had a nasty UTI (in case you didn't know that does not stand for "Ultimate Tanning Institution"). After a week on the meds she was finally better and she had another doctor's appointment to make sure she was cured. That test came back good, but wait, more tests? Yes. She had to go to the Children's Hospital in ATL a week later to have an ultrasound on her kidneys to make sure there was no damage. After that test, did I find out there was going to be another? Yes. And at this point I was furious. Emmy officially hates doctors and their offices and anything that resembles a table in an office. Luckily, all the tests came back A-OK and I am praying I never have to do that again.

7. If you ask her for kisses, she puts, or sometimes slams, her forehead to yours. That is how she gives kisses!

8. She is SO SO FAST in her walker. She will chase Kaillou (the dog) around and if you aren't careful she will even chase you. You have to watch for her because she will bruise your ankles. She also runs into walls when she is going too fast. She thinks her walker is the funnest thing ever.

9. She absolutely loves Kaillou. She is always trying to play with him with his toys, chase after him, pet him, and feed him. Whenever she is eating her puffs in her high chair, he will beg her for some. She of course throws every last one to him, then cries for more. Well, the other day at dinner, she did this and we told her she couldn't have anymore because she would feed them to Kaillou. She cried. So we let her have one in her mouth. What does she do??? Leans over her high chair to where Kaillou is, opens her mouth, AND GIVES IT TO HIM!!! She is too smart for her own good.

10. She definitely has a low pain tolerance like her dad. The littlest bump or boo boo and it is the end of the world.

11. So, Emmy has had a bath just about every night of her life. In my opinion, babies definitely need one. They go to the bathroom on themselves, get food all over, and in some cases spit up a lot. She has always had them in her little pink bath tub just big enough for her, up until a week ago. She would cry and scream if we were out of town or away from her pink bath tub and tried to bathe her in the regular tub, so between deciding I wanted her to be ok with bathing any where, and thinking she was kinda out growing the pink tub, I decided to start putting her in the big tub. Day 1: cried for the first 5 minutes, then held back the tears long enough to finish her bath. Day 2: cried for 1 minute then played for a while. Day 3 and so on: NO CRYING!!! Had I known it would only take a couple of times for her to be ok with it, I would have done it a month ago. Now she plays and is happy being in the big tub!

Day 1

Day 3

12. Last Sunday, when people would be singing, Emmy would start to "sing". I hope this never stops.

13. She is now 20.6 lbs. and is in a new car seat that sits up, but still faces back.

14. She rubs everything on her nose, and your nose, too. I don't know what it is about her nose, but she seems to have a thing about things touching it because she gets a sleepy look in her eyes no matter what she rubs it on. She especially loves blankets. The other day she saw me holding one and she took it and started rubbing her face in it. Automatically when she has one she does that. And she can't fall asleep without rubbing one on her face.

15. She knows what her "baby" is and she will hug, kiss, and feed it. She even takes the toy bottle and feeds her stuffed animals.

16. For Christmas, my parents got Emmy a little shopping cart. She has learned how to push it and will take off! If she runs into something and gets stuck she gets frustrated, which is why we have been playing with it in the basement today so that she has less to run into and more space to go! I'm pretty sure she will be walking (more than the 4-5 steps she does now) in no time!

17. I got her a little tooth brush with some baby approved tooth paste (oral gel) and when ever she sees me pull it out she gets excited and is ready to brush her teeth. I am so proud.

Well there is my super long list. Now here is what I need you to do: comment on this post and tell me how in the world I can follow people on my dashboard. I am following a few people but I can't remember how I did that. I don't want to follow them through email, just through my dashboard! Hints?

9 Month Appointment

Amazingly I saved on my phone all of her measurements from her 9 month appointment. As far as what her measurements at 6 months were, I can't tell you exactly.

19.3 lbs (in the 68%)
28 1/4 inches long (in the 75%)
and her head was in the 98%

The doctor said, and I quote, "Her head is a little on the bigger side, but it's ok because she is still cute!"

I just blamed it on Logan. And let's face it, it is definitely his fault.

2 years

For our two year anniversary, which was back in November, Logan and I celebrated it a little early. We spent the night in Atlanta at the Westin and had dinner there and then went for a horse carriage ride around downtown. We had the most HILARIOUS driver. It was so much fun, even though I did have a little freak out that I was possibly going to stop breathing. It ended up being ok thought, thank goodness.

Well, the point of this blog was this: I have this super awesome sister-in-law named Jessie, who is pro at updating her blog weekly and never leaving me wonder what those cute little nieces and nephew of mine are up to. And secretly, I wish I was more like her and more like super woman, like her. :) Every anniversary her and her husband do their favorite memories of the past however long they have been married, and I decided I had to steal her idea because 1. it is the cutest thing in the world and 2. I was extremely curious as to what Logan would say. So here it is! 2 years so 2 memories!

Logan said:
Honeymoon- and first anniversary we spent in Las Vegas. At the end of our stay I usually have $30-$40 worth of poker chips that seem to be a wast of time to cash in so I always ask you what color to put all out money on the roulette table,  red or black? Each year you nailed it doubling our money. Your my lucky charm.

Mystery pills-  as I lay sick one morning on my death bed with what was sure to be the worlds worst cold you give me two "cold&flu" pills before you drove off to school. Come to realize the reason I was so sleepy all day fighting to stay awake was due to the fact you have given me Tylenol pm knowingly or unknowingly. You thought it was hilarious

(Just so everyone knows- I gave him the Tylenol PM on purpose. He had not slept all night and was still awake, and I knew he needed to get some sleep. I thought he would fall asleep and stay asleep til I got home, however, he fought being tired and then I just felt bad, kinda.)

I say:
One night we had decided we were going to go check for calves for his grandpa in the middle of the night at about 3. Instead of going to bed, we decided to stay up until then. At the time Logan was working long hours during the day (5 am-5 pm) then going to school (6 pm-10 pm), so staying up late was not what he would want to do. Luckily this was a weekend night so it was possible. We stayed up and played video games and sang with a karaoke game for hours. It was so much fun to just be able to spend time together. Especially since it felt like he was never home and I felt so lucky that he wanted to stay up and spend that valuable sleeping time with me.

One night when I was pregnant I was in a lot of pain and did not feel well at all. All I wanted was a hot bath but I have this horrible fear of taking a bath in a bath tub where people have been showering, so Logan stopped everything he was doing, went and washed the bath tub, and made me a hot bath with bubbles, a candle, a big glass of ice water, and two Dove dark chocolates. It was so comforting to know that he was there to help make me feel better.

And because I had a hard time only doing two I had to do one more:

Another pregnant moment, however this one was more of an emotional ache pregnant moment rather than a physical ache one. For our first anniversary we went to Vegas. I was 20 weeks pregnant and in the stage where I didn't exactly feel like I looked pregnant, more like I just looked fat. My pants had stopped buttoning and my shirts all felt like they looked too tight. Well, we went shopping. (Pretty Vegas girls + shopping = bad environment for a pregnant girl) I had a meltdown. Right. In. The. Middle. Of. The. Mall. Logan said ok let's find the pregnancy stores and I tried things on but nothing made me feel better. I said all I wanted was some comfy cute sweats. We headed straight to the stores with just that and Logan picked out multiple cute sweat outfits (I was no longer in the mood to pick them myself). It made me feel a million times better about my huge fatso self. (And yes this memory is so still close to my heart that I am in tears just remembering it).

These are all memories I hope I never forget, and I am so excited to make more memories that will be just as close to my heart.

P.S. Thank you Jessie for letting me steal your idea so I can have these memories in writing.

OOPS.

My last post was when Emmy was 5 months old, and now she is double that! I failed. I know. And now I am not feeling up to catching this whole thing up, so I am going to make this quick and painless so that next time (hopefully not in 5 months) it will be easier for me to fill in what has happened!!

6 months--- Emmy was sitting up and rolling over like no ones business. She also made us aware of the fact that she is indeed a SCREAMER. She had the pleasure of riding on a few airplanes to go to Idaho and was a dream. I was constantly getting compliments on how good she was being and that she was the best baby they had ever flown with. That was nice to hear because I was extremely nervous about it, especially with all of the dirty looks I was getting as I was walking onto the plane. Oh yeah-screamer- but luckily not on the plane! Great grandma DeeDee came for a visit this month and had a blast playing with Emmy, and of course helping me with lots of projects.

7 months--- My mom, dad, Emmy, and I went for a short weekend to Florida so that Emmy could meet Grand grandma Nanny and Great grandpa Pa. While there, she started to "army crawl". As we were sitting on the floor, all the sudden she started to try. I was COMPLETELY unaware of her even knowing where to start. Later to find out that my dad had been secretly working with her. (Make note that this will happen many, many more times.) These were the days I was pushing her to grow up. Wishing she would hurry and learn how to crawl so we could have some real fun. Well, I got my wish, because towards the end of the 7th month she was a full blown crawler.

8 months--- She got her first TOOTH!!! I'll be honest. I didn't even know she was teething. I was out with my sister when my mom texted me asking if I knew Emmy had  a tooth. Ummm.. NO!! Before Thanksgiving she got a tooth! And now they just keep-a-comin! Thanksgiving we took a really, really, really long road trip to Missouri. I say really long because Emmy was not having much fun in her car seat. But it was so much fun to take her to my grand parents house so she could meet all of her great aunts and uncles and cousins! She was very loved on. Even Logan got to come! Logan claims at this point she was pulling up on him to stand, but I never witnessed it until a few days later. But around this point she was proudly pulling up!

9 months--- Emmy and I got to go to Florida AGAIN! This time we went with Lindsey, or Aunt Lindsey for Emmy. Not only did we get to see Nanny and Pa, but we also got to take Emmy to the beach for the first time. I did not know a baby could love the sand so much. She just kept grabbing it and digging in it. She was super tired, and it was obvious she needed a nap, but she refused to do anything but play. She learned a new trick when Papaw came home from Oklahoma (like I said). At first she was just wanting to climb up the stairs, which I happily helped her learn to do, but then I noticed she was trying to go DOWN them on her bum! Which I did not teach her. Who taught her that trick you ask? Papaw. And she thinks it is a fun game. Fun for her--scary for me! She also can free stand, for a few seconds at least. She was very spoiled this Christmas. She got lots of toys, a doll, clothes, and loves. She didn't much care for opening the presents, but that's ok. Next year.

Now for a cute story before I go until I do Emmy's 10 month blog.

A few days before Logan left we decided to go to the gun range so Logan could try out his new gun. Emmy and I stood behind the glass and watched him, as well as many others, shoot their guns. Logan had been signing in and getting all of his stuff together then went into the range when Emmy spotted him. And I know she spotted him because she pointed at him and whispered "dada". And yes, I thought it was the cutest thing in the world because she doesn't see him that often but she definitely knows who he is!
Happy Birthday Dada!!

Then for one more cute story, but maybe a little more on the sad side.

The other night Emmy, me, and my mom were laying in bed when Emmy climbed on me and said "dada" and shook her head no. Obviously realizing that Logan wasn't laying with us before bed. I told her no that dada went bye bye and she started waving and saying dada like she understood. For many, this may not even be a cute story, but since she is my #1 and the first time I am watching a baby grow, I thought it was so cool how much she has learned in what seems like such a short amount of time.

Well, until next week, because I AM GOING TO START POSTING MORE I PROMISE.
