9 Month Appointment

Amazingly I saved on my phone all of her measurements from her 9 month appointment. As far as what her measurements at 6 months were, I can't tell you exactly.

19.3 lbs (in the 68%)
28 1/4 inches long (in the 75%)
and her head was in the 98%

The doctor said, and I quote, "Her head is a little on the bigger side, but it's ok because she is still cute!"

I just blamed it on Logan. And let's face it, it is definitely his fault.

2 years

For our two year anniversary, which was back in November, Logan and I celebrated it a little early. We spent the night in Atlanta at the Westin and had dinner there and then went for a horse carriage ride around downtown. We had the most HILARIOUS driver. It was so much fun, even though I did have a little freak out that I was possibly going to stop breathing. It ended up being ok thought, thank goodness.

Well, the point of this blog was this: I have this super awesome sister-in-law named Jessie, who is pro at updating her blog weekly and never leaving me wonder what those cute little nieces and nephew of mine are up to. And secretly, I wish I was more like her and more like super woman, like her. :) Every anniversary her and her husband do their favorite memories of the past however long they have been married, and I decided I had to steal her idea because 1. it is the cutest thing in the world and 2. I was extremely curious as to what Logan would say. So here it is! 2 years so 2 memories!

Logan said:
Honeymoon- and first anniversary we spent in Las Vegas. At the end of our stay I usually have $30-$40 worth of poker chips that seem to be a wast of time to cash in so I always ask you what color to put all out money on the roulette table,  red or black? Each year you nailed it doubling our money. Your my lucky charm.

Mystery pills-  as I lay sick one morning on my death bed with what was sure to be the worlds worst cold you give me two "cold&flu" pills before you drove off to school. Come to realize the reason I was so sleepy all day fighting to stay awake was due to the fact you have given me Tylenol pm knowingly or unknowingly. You thought it was hilarious

(Just so everyone knows- I gave him the Tylenol PM on purpose. He had not slept all night and was still awake, and I knew he needed to get some sleep. I thought he would fall asleep and stay asleep til I got home, however, he fought being tired and then I just felt bad, kinda.)

I say:
One night we had decided we were going to go check for calves for his grandpa in the middle of the night at about 3. Instead of going to bed, we decided to stay up until then. At the time Logan was working long hours during the day (5 am-5 pm) then going to school (6 pm-10 pm), so staying up late was not what he would want to do. Luckily this was a weekend night so it was possible. We stayed up and played video games and sang with a karaoke game for hours. It was so much fun to just be able to spend time together. Especially since it felt like he was never home and I felt so lucky that he wanted to stay up and spend that valuable sleeping time with me.

One night when I was pregnant I was in a lot of pain and did not feel well at all. All I wanted was a hot bath but I have this horrible fear of taking a bath in a bath tub where people have been showering, so Logan stopped everything he was doing, went and washed the bath tub, and made me a hot bath with bubbles, a candle, a big glass of ice water, and two Dove dark chocolates. It was so comforting to know that he was there to help make me feel better.

And because I had a hard time only doing two I had to do one more:

Another pregnant moment, however this one was more of an emotional ache pregnant moment rather than a physical ache one. For our first anniversary we went to Vegas. I was 20 weeks pregnant and in the stage where I didn't exactly feel like I looked pregnant, more like I just looked fat. My pants had stopped buttoning and my shirts all felt like they looked too tight. Well, we went shopping. (Pretty Vegas girls + shopping = bad environment for a pregnant girl) I had a meltdown. Right. In. The. Middle. Of. The. Mall. Logan said ok let's find the pregnancy stores and I tried things on but nothing made me feel better. I said all I wanted was some comfy cute sweats. We headed straight to the stores with just that and Logan picked out multiple cute sweat outfits (I was no longer in the mood to pick them myself). It made me feel a million times better about my huge fatso self. (And yes this memory is so still close to my heart that I am in tears just remembering it).

These are all memories I hope I never forget, and I am so excited to make more memories that will be just as close to my heart.

P.S. Thank you Jessie for letting me steal your idea so I can have these memories in writing.

OOPS.

My last post was when Emmy was 5 months old, and now she is double that! I failed. I know. And now I am not feeling up to catching this whole thing up, so I am going to make this quick and painless so that next time (hopefully not in 5 months) it will be easier for me to fill in what has happened!!

6 months--- Emmy was sitting up and rolling over like no ones business. She also made us aware of the fact that she is indeed a SCREAMER. She had the pleasure of riding on a few airplanes to go to Idaho and was a dream. I was constantly getting compliments on how good she was being and that she was the best baby they had ever flown with. That was nice to hear because I was extremely nervous about it, especially with all of the dirty looks I was getting as I was walking onto the plane. Oh yeah-screamer- but luckily not on the plane! Great grandma DeeDee came for a visit this month and had a blast playing with Emmy, and of course helping me with lots of projects.

7 months--- My mom, dad, Emmy, and I went for a short weekend to Florida so that Emmy could meet Grand grandma Nanny and Great grandpa Pa. While there, she started to "army crawl". As we were sitting on the floor, all the sudden she started to try. I was COMPLETELY unaware of her even knowing where to start. Later to find out that my dad had been secretly working with her. (Make note that this will happen many, many more times.) These were the days I was pushing her to grow up. Wishing she would hurry and learn how to crawl so we could have some real fun. Well, I got my wish, because towards the end of the 7th month she was a full blown crawler.

8 months--- She got her first TOOTH!!! I'll be honest. I didn't even know she was teething. I was out with my sister when my mom texted me asking if I knew Emmy had  a tooth. Ummm.. NO!! Before Thanksgiving she got a tooth! And now they just keep-a-comin! Thanksgiving we took a really, really, really long road trip to Missouri. I say really long because Emmy was not having much fun in her car seat. But it was so much fun to take her to my grand parents house so she could meet all of her great aunts and uncles and cousins! She was very loved on. Even Logan got to come! Logan claims at this point she was pulling up on him to stand, but I never witnessed it until a few days later. But around this point she was proudly pulling up!

9 months--- Emmy and I got to go to Florida AGAIN! This time we went with Lindsey, or Aunt Lindsey for Emmy. Not only did we get to see Nanny and Pa, but we also got to take Emmy to the beach for the first time. I did not know a baby could love the sand so much. She just kept grabbing it and digging in it. She was super tired, and it was obvious she needed a nap, but she refused to do anything but play. She learned a new trick when Papaw came home from Oklahoma (like I said). At first she was just wanting to climb up the stairs, which I happily helped her learn to do, but then I noticed she was trying to go DOWN them on her bum! Which I did not teach her. Who taught her that trick you ask? Papaw. And she thinks it is a fun game. Fun for her--scary for me! She also can free stand, for a few seconds at least. She was very spoiled this Christmas. She got lots of toys, a doll, clothes, and loves. She didn't much care for opening the presents, but that's ok. Next year.

Now for a cute story before I go until I do Emmy's 10 month blog.

A few days before Logan left we decided to go to the gun range so Logan could try out his new gun. Emmy and I stood behind the glass and watched him, as well as many others, shoot their guns. Logan had been signing in and getting all of his stuff together then went into the range when Emmy spotted him. And I know she spotted him because she pointed at him and whispered "dada". And yes, I thought it was the cutest thing in the world because she doesn't see him that often but she definitely knows who he is!
Happy Birthday Dada!!

Then for one more cute story, but maybe a little more on the sad side.

The other night Emmy, me, and my mom were laying in bed when Emmy climbed on me and said "dada" and shook her head no. Obviously realizing that Logan wasn't laying with us before bed. I told her no that dada went bye bye and she started waving and saying dada like she understood. For many, this may not even be a cute story, but since she is my #1 and the first time I am watching a baby grow, I thought it was so cool how much she has learned in what seems like such a short amount of time.

Well, until next week, because I AM GOING TO START POSTING MORE I PROMISE.

until later...

This will have to hold you off for just a little longer! I have so many videos and fun things to tell, just not enough time in the day.

Here is a video from today of her throwing and playing with her toy and laughing hysterically at it. She has the squeaky-est laugh and I just love it!!

4+ months old

Emmy is almost 5 months old in only 5 days! I can't even believe it.  I haven't posted in forever because of school ending and having finals, so I'm gonna start from the beginning of July, but there won't be pictures because I'm feeling lazy--and it takes forever to transfer the pictures from my phone then load them here. Maybe I will edit later and add them!

Logan came home before the 4th so we could do something fun. We decided that Emmy probably would really hate the noise from the fireworks, especially because she has a bed time routine that if you get off of it even just the littlest bit she is a very unhappy baby. Every night between 8 and 9 she decides it is time to get ready for bed and gets fussy. She knows it is time for her bath! And she LOVES her bath time! She is also an angel and sleeps alllll night long, wakes up to eat around 7, then sleeps a little more with me :)
Anyways, on the 4th we went to the Westin, which is a hotel in Atlanta overlooking Centennial Park. One whole side of your room is a window, so we had a perfect view of the fireworks! We went early in the day to check in, then walked around Atlanta a little by our hotel. We ordered Hard Rock Cafe to go and Logan walked to pick it up--and it was FANTASTIC! Sooo yummy. Then we waited for the fireworks, watched TV, napped, gave Emmy a bath, then it was time for the fireworks! She stayed up for all of them. It was a great time.

The next day, Kevin, Lori, & Grandpa and Grandma Gray came to Georgia! We got to show them my home town/where Logan served and hang out. So happy they got to stop by on their way to North Carolina!

That weekend we got the opportunity to go to a hotel for FREE! So, we went to Chattanooga since it is fairly close and somewhere we have only driven through. We went on a river boat for dinner, and it was a once in a lifetime experience--meaning I will probably never want to or care to do it again. The river was pretty, but after the boat blew its horn within the first five seconds of going, Emmy was a very, very sad baby. She hates loud noises. But it was a very nice and relaxing one night stay in Chattanooga.

Also this month, I finished my fifth semester with good grades! I was so so happy to get that over with. I am now over half way through with school!

Random facts about Emmy Lou:

July was also the first month that Emmy got to go in the pool from her waist down! She seemed to enjoy it, but only if the sun wasn't in her eyes!

Emmy loves books. But she has a favorite and gets super excited if that book comes out.

Emmy also is obsessed with Micky Mouse Clubhouse. The theme song comes on and she just smiles. She hates car rides, but I have set up my iPad so that she can watch her show while she rides, and she stays quiet!

Emmy learned to ROLL OVER!!!!! I seriously thought the day would never come. She hated being on her belly unless it was to sleep on someone, and would just fuss if she was on her belly. However, she figured out she can get off her belly if she wants! So now tummy time is definitely mostly nonexistent because she will roll over almost instantly. I imagine she will never roll from her back to belly now.

She is a total screamer. When she plays she just screams and screams.

If there are loud noises, repeatedly, or just loud and scares her, she gets really really sad and cries. If someone talks to her that she doesn't want to talk to her--she cries! Pretty much, don't bother her. And if she doesn't like you, you will know!

She started foods! She hates the rice, but will eat oatmeal if it is mixed with something else. So far she has had, and seems to like: squash, sweet potatoes, and green beans.

She knows when it is close to bed time and will not let you forget it. She has her bath (which she loves) then a bottle, and goes to sleep! Usually around 9. Then she sleeps until 6 or 7. It is awesome!

Pretty much she is the perfect baby. (haha) And we love her to pieces.

Smiles & Giggles

Emmy is seriously growing in every possible way right before my eyes! I'm pretty sure everyday is a new adventure around here.

Last week we went to the doctor again. Not for more shots--that isn't for another month. I decided I needed to take her in because I decided something just wasn't right. She was doing mass amounts of spitting up (mouth and nose) along with arching her back and crying. It was obvious it hurt her and I was so done! I went in thinking they probably won't have much to tell me, and came out excited that my baby might be happier within only a matter of hours! Turns out she has GERD a.k.a reflux. So she now takes medicine in her bottle (because I figured out after she gagged herself into vomiting that it tasted HORRIBLE-I will from now on be tasting liquid meds before I give them to her I decided! what a mess it made!) twice a day. Also, they decided that maybe her other issues weren't truly an allergic reaction, but just from having reflux. She is now back on regular Enfamil formula that is lactose, but the A.R. which stands for added rice so she can keep it down easier. And guess what... IT WORKS WONDERS! She is a totally new baby. Hardly any spit up (one day she got to spend the WHOLE day in the same outfit because she only spit up ONCE!) and no more cries when she does.

Now onto the fun stuff.

Emmy loves her toys. Sometimes she grabs them and won't let go!

She usually either has them in her mouth, or is trying to get them in her mouth. She always puts her toy elephant's nose in her mouth!

I don't have a picture of it, but if she thinks the texture is weird of something that she puts in her mouth she will make a disgusted face. It's pretty funny!

Here is a video of her trying to get her dangling toy in her mouth. As you will see--this doesn't work out so well so she is fussy!

I keep finding her on her side--especially when she is playing on her playmat. So I am thinking it won't be long before she is rolling over on her own!!

And the BEST part about this update is that Emmy now GIGGLES! AND IT IS ADORABLE!
This video is the first night she started giggling. It was right before bath time and Papaw started playing with her tummy. It is kinda hard to hear her giggle because Kaillou saw that he was around her and is super protective of her--so he is barking at him. Unfortunately I caught it at the end right before she was done, so only about the first 10 seconds of the video are any good.

The next day she giggled even MORE!!! Apparently Emmy thinks my dad is just hilarious because he was just clapping and she started giggling away!

Notice the head fall back at the end---
(Also, those are not hiccups in her laugh. She just laughs like that.)

Here is a shorter one of her giggling. It's funny because at the beginning right before I hit record my dad clapped and it scared her then she started laughing hysterically!

Emmy has been a fairly good sleeper the last while, but the past two nights she has slept ALLLL night long! I kept thinking she was about to wake up then she would be out again. This morning I found myself waiting for her to wake up!

She also seems to like to sleep with my all time favorite blanket. I think she has claimed it. :(

Oh how I love her.

Sweet Summertime

While Logan was here we did lots of fun things! The Friday after he got here we went on a date with our friends Matt & Laura to watch the Braves play the Washington Nationals!

It was suuuuper hot outside and we got there way too early so we decided to try to go inside, but had to figure out how since we had their tickets. Some how we got into the Delta Sky Lounge which was pretty fun--but we still don't know why they let us in!
It was a pretty packed stadium as you can see. And we had pretty good seats behind 3rd base in the 12th row.
The Braves lost :( and Chipper Jones wasn't playing because he was hurt :( but it was still loads of fun and we even got to see fireworks after!

Afterwards-we went to pick up Emmy Lou. She was going to spend the night with her aunt Lindsey, but Emmy was REFUSING to sleep. Lindsey said that she would only be happy if she was being held right in front of the TV so she could watch Despicable Me. She slept all night when we got home. :)

That weekend was Memorial Day weekend so we decided to hit the pool on Saturday.
Emmy was so funny in her swim suit, sunglasses, and hat.
Baby pool diapers don't fit her yet (they are HUGE!) so we could only dip her legs and feet in, which I think was OK with her.
Also, it was super bright outside so we brought an umbrella to shade her with. She just sat on my knee watching her feet splash around in the water. I'm pretty sure she liked it. :)
Then she got sleepy so ofcourse she had to take a little nap on grandma!
She passed OUT so we decided it was nap time for the baby and they went back to the house!

The next week we decided we wanted to go to the aquarium. I for one had tons of fun, and I think Emmy did too because she was awake looking around the whole time we were there! Usually she falls asleep when she goes for a ride in a stroller (this case wheelchair because the stroller was forgotten at home), but nope! She was wide eyed!
The picture on the right is of her staring at the fishies. I can't wait to take her back when she is a little older! Or when Jessie and Cody bring the kids down. Which will happen. I am determined. haha :)

Also while her daddy was here we bought her a play mat!
And she is soooo grown up now that she will even sometimes GRAB her toys!
She just does a lot of grabbing in general lately. Examples: grabbing my hair, grabbing blankets/burp rags, etc., oh.. and most importantly.. grabbing my skirt during church right before I stand up! I'm just thankful she didn't have it at the bottom or that could have been embarrassing!

She finally got to wear her cute robe that her aunt Lindsey got her!
Some other things:
-I am halfway done with the semester!! Whoo hoo! So excited to take some months off to just play with baby.
-I got called as a primary teacher for the funnest group of 4-5 year olds! They are a tad crazy... but I love them!
-Logan just left for another few weeks. We will miss him, but when he gets back we have more fun things on our list to do!!
